  • Dell Loy Hansen

    Managing Partner

    Dell Loy Hansen

    Dell Loy Hansen is the founding partner of Med Venture Holdings and oversees the investment strategy and capital structure of portfolio investments. Dell Loy has over 30 years of experience in finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and business development. Dell Loy has a storied business career. He is the Founder of the Wasatch Group, an integrated real estate group with over $4 billion in assets under management. Mr. Hansen has founded or invested in dozens of companies in the areas of healthcare, waste disposal, utility management, media, advertising, sports, food, and finance.

    Dell Loy has served as a chairman of the Governor’s Board of Business and Economic Development for the State of Utah under Governor Mike Leavitt, and on the committee for Utah’s Industrial Assistance Fund. Dell Loy is a major contributor to education, healthcare, and other philanthropic causes. Mr. Hansen has a passion for sports and competition. In addition to building youth training facilities, he is the owner of the Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake, and currently, serves on the Utah Sports Commission Board. A lifelong Utah resident, Mr. Hansen continues to keep deep roots in Cache Valley, with other residences in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Carlsbad, California.

    Travis Sessions

    Travis is a founding partner of Med Venture Holdings and manages its investment strategy. Travis has over 20 years of business management experience, including business development, mergers and acquisitions, and operations. Travis has successfully started and grown multiple medical device technology companies. He has held key leadership positions at Microsoft Corporation, The Dow Chemical Company, Parker Hannifin Corporation, and Biomerics.

    Travis has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Travis serves on various industry boards and private education organizations including BioUtah, Salt Lake City’s Lifescience Angels, Brigham Young University’s Industry Board, and American Heritage School.

  • Joel Larson

    Managing Partner

    Joel Larson

    Joel has been managing partner of Med Venture Holdings since 2015. He has many years of experience in managing a variety of platforms in real estate, financial analysis, budgeting, property and asset management. Joel is currently the CEO of Wasatch Acquisition & Capital, part of the Wasatch Group, and has been with Wasatch for the past 20 years. As CEO, he oversees the divisional operations and venture capital investments for many of Wasatch Group’s portfolio assets.

    Joel is passionate about working with businesses to help them grow in capacity and financial stability and loves discovering ways to overcome unique business challenges when they arise. He loves to find new and innovative solutions to problems and capitalize on those opportunities to find success in business. Prior to the Wasatch Group, Joel worked for Deloitte in Houston, TX while completing his certification as a licensed CPA. Joel received his Masters of Accounting from Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

  • Steve Berhow

    Steve Berhow

    Steve is a managing partner of Med Venture Holdings. Steve has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry, specializing in medical device development. He started his career in 1985 at AngioMedics, where he developed a thorough understanding of devices utilizing balloons, stents, and delivery systems for percutaneous access and treatment of diseased vessels. Steve then moved to Everest Medical, which was the first company in the U.S. to primarily focus on developing bipolar electro-surgical devices for minimally invasive surgeries using bipolar RF energy.

    Steve is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in physiology. His understanding of the anatomy and physiology behind the devices he created has helped numerous physicians bring their ideas from concept to medical device throughout the industry. Over the last 20 years, Steve has founded five medical device-based companies in the U.S., Asia, and Europe. These companies have brought many new devices and technologies to the medical industry. He holds numerous patents in the medical field and is always seeking to help create new devices and technologies for the advancement of medicine throughout the world.

  • Jay Muse

    Operating Partner

    Jay Muse

    Jay is an Operating Partner with the Med Venture Holdings group. He is currently President and CEO of Piper Access, LLC, a vascular access company and Talon Medical, LLC (DBA Talon Surgical), a heart access company. He has 27 years of experience in innovation, engineering, technology development, and commercialization.  Jay is passionate about developing medical devices that are loved by both clinicians and patients.  Prior to the Piper Access and Talon Surgical, Jay worked for GE, IOMEGA, BD, & BARD in the management of product innovation & technology development.  Jay received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose State University.  He currently resides in Salt Lake City, UT where he enjoys backcountry skiing and mountain biking


  • Bret Boudousquie

    Operating Partner

    Bret Boudousquie

    Bret is an Operating Partner with the Med Venture Holdings group. Bret is currently the CEO of Stratus, a company focused on advancing RF technology for the treatment of chronic pain. He joins Stratus from RadiaDyne®, where he led the business as President. RadiaDyne was a commercial-stage company that developed and marketed medical devices and patient monitoring equipment used during radiotherapy for cancer treatment. During his four-year tenure at RadiaDyne, Bret led the team as they updated all of RadiaDyne’s products, systems, and processes. In early 2018, RadiaDyne launched the award-winning OARtrac® radiation dose monitoring system for cancer treatment. RadiaDyne was later sold in September 2018.

    Prior to RadiaDyne, Bret’s career was focused on evolving minimally invasive surgical procedures primarily in orthopedics, spine and general surgery, first with Johnson & Johnson and then with start-up companies. He established a strong track record of success in sales, marketing, and sales management. Earlier in his career, Bret gained practical corporate finance experience as a Commercial Lender with Wachovia.

  • Andy Montero

    Chief Financial Officer

    Andy Montero

    Andy is a founding partner of Med Venture Holdings and has served as the Chief Financial Officer since 2015. Andy is responsible for investor relations, accounting, finance, and tax. Andy has held key finance positions at Lippert Components, Schneider Electric, and Biomerics. Andy has built his career on his analysis skills to provide data for strategic decision making, manufacturing operations, and business controls. Andy holds a BS in accounting from Central Michigan University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Utah.

  • Dan Higgs

    Chief IP Counsel

    Dan Higgs

    Dan is Chief IP Counsel for Med Venture Holdings. His role includes evaluating the intellectual property of all investments and manages the patent strategy for portfolio companies. Dan practiced patent law with Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear, LLP in Irvine, California, for two years and then with Stoel Rives LLP in Salt Lake City, Utah, for nine years. During that time, Dan’s practice focused primarily on medical devices, including preparation and prosecution of patent applications and other strategic development of patent estates, due diligence for patent portfolio acquisitions, and validity challenges to competitors’ patents for a variety of medical device companies.

    Dan graduated from the University of Utah, summa cum laude, with a degree in applied physics, and received his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Dan is admitted to practice in Utah and California and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah and the Central District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

  • Stephen Coster


    Stephen Coster

    Stephen joined Med Venture Holdings in 2017 and the controller working closely with the Chief Financial Officer. Stephen has been working in accounting for the past 6 years, working with companies such as Go Natural CNG, Pro-Star Services, and Komatsu. Stephen graduated summa cum laude from Stevens-Henager with a degree in Forensic Accounting. His experience has made him an excellent asset to Med Venture Holdings, responsible for implementing internal control systems, budget analysis and implementing key reporting mechanisms. Stephen specializes in financial analysis, financial reporting, process optimization, and asset management. Stephen’s experience and broad skillset have allowed him to support the economic health of Med Venture Holdings as it continues to build in strength and value in the medical device industry.

  • Jake Wakley

    Director of Regulatory and Quality

    Jake Wakley

    Jake is the Director of Regulatory and Quality for Med Venture Management and provides regulatory guidance and strategy for MVHs’ portfolio investments and companies. Jake has over 17 years of experience in process and quality engineering, operations management, quality management, and regulatory compliance across multiple medical device companies. He has held key management positions at Compeq International, BD Medical, Edwards Lifesciences, and Biomerics.

    Jake graduated from BYU with a BS in Chemical Engineering and earned a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Utah. He is an expert in various disciplines, including risk assessment, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, and FDA requirements, and has directly developed and managed multiple medical device quality management systems.
